HELLO!

My name is Sarah Glemnitz. I am a graduating student of Crossmedia Design at the ArtEZ AKI, Academy of Fine Art & Design in Enschede, the Netherlands.

My profession at the moment is illustration, although I used to photograph for several years. I usually combine both media. I like it when my work effects people – whether it defines, inspires, provokes or amuses people, but I'm hunting especially for the amusement.

futura.

i wrote an essay for a typoface, that is made by the 2nd and 3rd year students from the designdepartment. everybody chose an own typeface, my choice was futura.

i really like round forms and i always loved the early round letters in this typeface. it was eally nice to do the research, but i couldn't find good letter pictures, in high resolution. my aim was to concentrate on the shapes (triangle, rectangle and circle) from who the letters are created. i used the grid for the poster-like look. it is printed on transparent paper, so you see also the strcture of the grid.

also, because i couldn't find the early 'special characters' of futura in a hogh resolution, i used the word 'futura' on the cover, to show by drawing on the letters the geometric forms from which they are created.
